AI “SUMMARY” cards are now appearing in Google Discover across 13 languages, led by Korean (13 cards) and Taiwanese Chinese (10), with English in the UK (7) and US (6) also featured. Availability varies by country as well as language and fluctuates with news cycles. Two distinct pipelines drive the cards: discoverhighlightsaigcfeed delivers article overviews, while neoncluster supplies YouTube video overviews. The UK (and Japan) have just activated article AI Overviews—about 1,000 cards per day since mid‑June 2026—but show no video AI cards, unlike the US, Korea, Indonesia, India and Brazil where both formats run. Publishers should aim to be the featured article in an AI Overview rather than merely a source, as the traditional article card inventory shrinks amid rising “X”, LinkedIn and Threads cards. Monitoring the UK’s early spike will reveal whether video AI Overviews follow.
